5 Reasons Why Keeping Your Site Current Matters

Posted on Monday 10 April 2006

This article was written with Real Estate, Contractors, Developers and Builders in mind but many of the thoughts apply no matter what your field of work.

1. Buyers use the web. Back in 1995 only 2% of users used the Internet to find their next home. According to National Association of Realtors® that number is aproaching 80%. Your entire development could be chosen or eliminated by how you represent your project online.

2. Users can be looking at the site at any time, day or night. Keeping site plans current, properties available/up to date and adding content to the site is the best way to connect. They should also be able to qualify themselves whatever time they view your site.

3. Search engines notice when you update. There are many myths regarding Search Engine Optimization, but one solid truth is if your site is updated regular it gets noticed by search engines and that will guarantee you better placement naturally. Another bonus is that it will raise your relevancy with the search “bots”.

4. Pay attention to look and feel, branding and relevant information. Would you put your money in a bank that had clowns and garish colors on the front? NO! It wouldn’t make you feel safe and secure about your money. What does your site say about you? Does your web site project the feeling you want people to have about your houses, your development, your company? If the answer is no, it’s time for an updated image.

5. Promotion, Promotion, Promotion. Selling houses is a fine tuned concert between realtors, builders, developers and construction professionals. Add the architects, marketing companies and other individuals who help sell or promote homes and you can see how many talented people have it takes to succeed. By keeping your site up to date, others can promote your property, your community and your brand just by linking to it. No one wants to link to stale information. They want to trust you as a partner and that means making sure you represent yourself as trustworthy, reliable and available.
